Little Shop of Physics
The "Little Shop of Physics" is a hands-on science outreach program at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. Little Shop of Physics kits include instructional materials designed to be done by students individually, in small groups or as demonstrations taught by the teacher. All experiments use simple equipment that is either provided in the kit or can be easily obtained locally. These kits allow open-ended exploration of science concepts in a way that is engaging, exciting and effective. Enough materials for approximately 25 students - $289.25 Value.

A group of three students becomes the battery that runs a clock, while other students light a neon lamp just by scuffing their feet... The goal is to teach the basic concepts of electricity and spark your students enthusiasm about electricity.
Eight action-packed hands-on activities that will allow exploration, encourage discussion and help make the concept of electricity less abstract for your students.
- Batteries 'R' Us - Students make a working battery from a nail, penny and saltwater;
- Static Flash - Students scuff their feet and make a neon light bulb glow;
- Writing with Electricity - Students use electricity to make an electrochemical reaction that changes
the color of goldenrod paper.

Little Shop of Physics(LSOP) Pressure

Mash marshmallows, vacuum pack a student, and take the suction cup challenge... The goal is to teach the basic concepts of pressure in liquids and gases in an engaging and informative way.

- Marshmallow Masher - Students compress the air in a container with marshmallows inside and witness the results;
- Pascal's Pillow - Students learn the power of air pressure when they lift a book using a balloon and their own lungs;
- Crushing a Can - Demonstration on how to crush a can using air pressure.

Little Shop of Physics(LSOP) Motion

Grades: 4-9
Motion:
Take a cup of water through a maze at high speed, and use music to measure the motion of an accelerating truck. The goal is to teach the basic concepts of force and motion in an engaging and informative way.
Designed with thirteen small group activities to further benefit students understanding of motion.
- Velocity Vehicles - Students work with a stopwatch and toy vehicle to measure velocities;
- Acceleration of Gravity - Metal nuts tied to a string show students that falling bodies accelerate;
- Hoverpuck - Once it starts moving it keeps moving showing Newton's First Law.

Energy:
How long can you run a toy car with 1 minute of solar power? Which has more energy, blue light or red? The goal is to teach about energy in a way that brings in elements of all of the basic sciences.
Ten small group activities & five teacher demos.
- Simple Speedboat - shows conservation of heat energy into motion energy;
- Candy Sparking - shows motion energy into light energy using a common candy;
- Writing with light - students use and LED and a phosphorescent surface to write using light.
